City Center Milwaukee | Day 156 |  The boots on the ground to get the People's view is the Petition for Direct Legislation.  It is navigated by the CRG Network - Citizens for Responsible Government.

Proposed Ordinance

CRG/Citizens for Responsible Government has selected the wording below for the proposed Streetcar/rail transit project.  It is:

                                         PETITITON FOR DIRECT LEGISLATION

I, the undersigned, a qualified elector of the Cityof Milwaukee request that the proposed ordinance below, without alteration, either be adopted by the common council or referred to a vote of the electors pursuant to the provisions of Section 9.20, Wisconsin Statutes.

Prior to the start of any physical construction of any municipall financed (in whole or in part) rail transit system requiring a capital expenditure of $20 million or more in municipal funds or funds guaranteed by or supported by an express or implicit promise of the City, whether or not such promise is legally enforceable, the Common Coucil shall submit to the electorate a binding referendum for approval of the construction of the system.  

Failure of the referendum shall preclude the city from proceeding with or otherwise permitting construction of such system or any part thereof using any City funds or revenues.

The wording of the referendum shall provide the specifi purpose, location, and the total estimated construction costs of the system, including an estimate of the costs to be funded directly or indirectly by the City.  

Nothing in this section shall be construed to preclude the City from exercising its role in the engineering, planning or design of an urban rail transit system.

"The signers" of the petition are resident of the City of Milwaukee.  Whereas they may not be registered voters, they need to be "eligible for voting" (age appropriate, at least 18 years, and living in the City of Milwaukee limits, with voting privilege).

Certified Circulators may be of the City of Milwaukee and outside of the City of Milwaukee.

Certified Circulators can not "Sign-the-Petition" unless they are eligible voters of the City of Milwaukee.

Happy 5th Birthday Text4baby!! 

 It seems hard to believe that Text4baby is turning five! 

Over 850,000 mothers and families have been reached with the knowledge that leads to better health for them and their babies. 

Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC is a partner for the Milwaukee area for Text4Baby.

Text4baby has:

• shown to improve health knowledge
• help facilitate interaction with health providers and improve access to health services.

A George Washington (GW) University-led randomized evaluation found that Text4baby mothers were nearly three times more likely to believe that they were prepared to be new mothers compared to those in the no exposure control group. Findings from an RCT funded by the DOD Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center and led by GW and the Madigan Army Medical found improvements in beliefs targeted by Text4baby, including:

(1) the importance of prenatal care, 

(2) the risk of alcohol use, and 

(3) the importance of prenatal vitamins, among participants with short term (4 week) exposure to Text4baby compared to the control group. 

Findings from a study conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation showed many Text4baby participants sought additional information about Medicaid and CHIP after receiving Text4baby's messages about health coverage, and a number said they applied for Medicaid or CHIP for themselves or an uninsured child after receiving Text4baby's messages about health coverage.

Text4baby continues to grow in every state thanks to the efforts of a diverse and engaged partner base that includes over 1,250 organizations from around the country.

SATURDAY TALK primary goal is to create and utilize a guide for professional neighborhood growth through informed decision making by CORE CONSTITUENTS.  It will allow individuals, groups and businesses working on various aspects in their neighborhood to come to the table and share and link for common causes that impact quality of life and economic development.

Saturday, January 31, 2015 will kick-off with its year-long regional partner; SWERPC/Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission with a customized seminar on Vision 2050 - Matching Planning with “solution-building” by the CORE CONSTITUENTS.  Facilitator:  C Terrance Anderson, SEWRPC Planner.

Hot button issues on Transportation will include updates by Jackie Ivy, Milwaukee Transit Riders Union, Milwaukee Streetcar Referendum by Craig Peterson, Zigman Joseph Stephenson, Chris Kliesmet, CRG/Citizens for Responsible Government, and Jacob Gatlin, Fellow – Amani Think Tank,  “Why run for Alderman in 2016?”

Amani Works Think Tank is a 2-year commitment of vetted individuals called “Fellows”.

Fellows are invited Members of the think tank on-behalf-of the People.  They are academic, practicum and inspired individuals-peers that are scholars from the neighborhoods of Milwaukee – specialists from their area of service that want to grow, want their city to grow and will work to serve as leader-STEWARDS for growth of ALL in the pursuit of mutual knowledge and practices.

SATURDAY TALK - UW-M to Amani Ground Zero, New and Needed

City Center Milwaukee | Day 150| on Saturday, January 31, 2015, Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC will kick-off the next addition of All Hands on Deck, WE CAN Initiative.  It is SATURDAY TALK in the Amani Neighborhood.  

SATURDAY TALK is the brainchild of Mary Glass, Chair/CEO/CVO of MPA LLC and Amani Works Think Tank. Amani Works Think Tank consist of Invited and vetted hidden talent - CORE CONSTITUENTS that are "Fellows".  The Amani Works Think Tank Fellows volunteer for 2 years to grow in peer-reviewed reporting, investigations and growth of district-to-district sharing for the city of Milwaukee.

Amani Works Think Tank launch candidates for office and promote the necessity of Oath of Office, meaningful legislation for the People of Milwaukee and VOTING to the People in Fellowship.

The theme Smart Growth looks at the SWOT analysis of the 15 districts with Amani (Nigerian, means "Peace and Security") being Ground Zero.

Smart Growth includes a regional partner:  SEWRPC - Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission.

The first quarter, JANUARY, FEBRUARY and MARCH are the months for key capacity building and oversight months to take-stock of the $$$Millions-on-top of Millions that come to the city of Milwaukee for various projects, buildings, projects and programs that have the thumbprint of everyone but the CORE CONSTITUENTS - even if there is a Milwaukeean and/or person of color with the promise of leadership.  

Stewardship, ownership, entrepreneurship, fellowship, citizenship, scholarship, apprenticeship, mentorship, partnership and leadership with CORE CONSTITUENTS of the city of Milwaukee DNA at the beginning-through outcomes are deliverables from the JUMP-OFF.  This means the collaborators for start-up, architects, developers, planners, lawyers, construction workers (union or otherwise), anchor tenants, boards of directors, steering committees, workforce and neighborhood stewards are African American, other People of Color, Caucasian and Work Challenged.

Glass has worked in the Amani Neighborhood for over 20 years and was commissioned by Project Respect (Doris Green - Executive Director) - OIC, Carl Gee Executive Director for the HUD/Community Block Grant city of Milwaukee neighborhood strategic planning for the NSP/Neighborhood Strategic Planning for Amani #9.

Earnings season is kicking into high gear with major banks releasing results. JPMorgan (JPM) today reported earnings that were hit by legal costs. Wells Fargo (WFC) is also out with profits this morning. (CNBC)

Volatility is back on Wall Street these days, highlighted by Tuesday'sdramatic reversal which saw the Dow up 282 points and down 143 points before closing modestly lower. (CNBC)

Copper prices-often seen as a bellwether for global economic health-extended their plunge today, trading at their lowest levels in more than 5 years. (Reuters)

NICO & VINZ - I like - MILLENNIAL 2015

City Center Milwaukee | Day 132 |  Today, Milwaukee Professionals Association LLC releases it commitment to MUSIC 2015.  It will focus on local to global music and musicians, with at least 1 musical event this year featuring hidden talent at the census tract and neighborhood level.

The two fellows in the video are:  NICO (Kahouly Nicolay Sereba) & VINZ (Vicent Dery).
They are from Oslo, Norway.

Vincent Dery (Vinz)

Nico Sereba of Norwegian-Ivorian origin and Vincent Dery of Norwegian-Ghanaian origin created their music as a fusion of genres as diverse as pop to reggae to soul. The duo was launched as Envy with its main debut appearance at Emergenza Festival in 2011.  They won first place at the Taubertal Open Air Festival World's "Emergenza Final" for new emerging artists. Following that success, the duo released the mixtape Dreamworks: Why Not Me under the name Envy. The materials were also made available online through WiMP.

They are from Lambertseter, Oslo. They formed in 2009 as Envy and are based in Oslo.^[1] They changed their name to Nico & Vinz in January 2014 after the international success of "Am I Wrong".
